The Clinical Auditor is responsible for undertaking clinical audit projects aimed at producing changes to LAS practices and improving the quality of care delivered to our patients. This includes examining the treatment given by ambulance crews to the patient and the suitability of the level of the emergency response provided.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Auditor designs and sets-up projects; collects, inputs and analyses data, writes reports and formulates recommendations for changes to practice.

Job responsibilities

The Clinical Audit & Research Unit (CARU) is part of the Clinical & Quality Directorate and is responsible for the LASs clinical audit and research activities and programmes. Clinical audit enables CARU to systematically monitor and review the quality of the care given by the LAS. Through the results of our clinical audit and research projects we recommend, and track the implementation of, appropriate changes to practice that are aimed at improving patient care both locally and at a national level.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant area (science or social science) or evidence of academic ability to this level

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking projects using methods relevant to research or audit

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking projects using methods relevant to research or audit
  • Statistical analysis skills (descriptive and comparative) to intermediate level
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Internet and Email and Outlook

Personal Abilities

  • Adhere to values and behaviours

  • Professional telephone manner; able to provide information and communicate orally in a clear and concise way
