London Academy for Applied Technology (LAAT) is seeking an experienced Quality and Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen academic standards, quality assurance, and continuous enhancement across its higher education provision. This is a senior academic leadership role with institutional responsibility for ensuring that academic governance, assessment, programme quality, and student outcomes meet the expectations of the Office for Students (OfS), the QAA Quality Code, and awarding/validating partners. The successful candidate will play a central role in embedding robust quality systems while supporting a positive, improvement‑led academic culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and operate LAAT’s Academic Quality Framework, ensuring compliance with UK HE regulatory requirements.
- Oversee academic governance, including Academic Quality Committees, Programme Boards, and Examination Boards.
- Maintain oversight of programme approval, modification, review, suspension, and termination processes.
- Ensure fair, transparent, and consistent assessment practices, including moderation, progression, awards, appeals, and academic misconduct.
- Lead annual monitoring and quality enhancement planning, using data, student feedback, and external examiner reports.
- Act as the primary academic quality liaison with awarding bodies, regulators, and external examiners.
- Ensure institutional readiness for audits, validations, and regulatory reviews.
- Support and guide academic staff on quality assurance processes and academic regulations.
About You
You will be an experienced UK HE professional with strong knowledge of academic quality assurance and governance.
Essential
- Postgraduate qualification (Master’s required; Doctorate desirable)
- Significant experience in academic quality, standards, or governance within UK Higher Education
- Strong working knowledge of OfS, QAA Quality Code, and awarding body requirements
- Proven experience managing academic regulations, assessment processes, and quality reviews
- Excellent communication, report‑writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
Desirable
- Experience working within an alternative or growing HE provider
- Experience supporting validation partnerships
- Previous role as Head of Quality, Quality Manager, Academic Registrar, or similar
