Job Title: Non-Academic Coordinator

The London Academy for Applied Technology (LAAT) is a dynamic and rapidly growing higher education institution delivering undergraduate programmes in Business, in partnership with Plymouth Marjon University. LAAT is committed to widening participation and delivering an outstanding student experience underpinned by high-quality teaching and robust governance.

Role Summary

The Non-Academic Coordinator plays a key role in the smooth operation of the institution by overseeing non-academic processes, actively supporting student engagement, and taking a hands-on role in attendance management and student welfare. This role requires strong communication skills, responsiveness, attention to detail, and basic IT proficiency. The coordinator serves as the central point of contact for non-academic queries and supports scheduling, interview coordination, documentation, and general administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of multiple programmes, coordinate class schedules, organise induction activities, and ensure all teaching resources (lecture rooms, software, library lists) are in place before term starts.
  • Act as the first point of contact for non-academic queries from students and staff.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews, student meetings, staff inductions, and non-academic appointments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for student files, sick notes, attendance, and deferral or withdrawal requests.
  • Support the onboarding of new staff (providing access, resources, handbooks).
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, faculty, and external contacts.
  • Monitor institutional mailboxes (attendance inbox) and respond promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain and update noticeboards, contact lists, and staff/student directories.
  • Support the implementation of non-academic policies and procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive student/staff information.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with institutional standards and external requirements (e.g., attendance regulations, record keeping).
  • Escalate any concerns regarding student wellbeing or conduct to the appropriate department.
  • Attendance recording and monitoring to ensure students are actively attending classes. Take appropriate action in case of absence.
