Position Overview
The social media & IT Support Intern will be responsible for managing the institution’s social media platforms, coordinating marketing communication, and supporting day-to-day IT operations. The role also requires exposure to basic web development tasks for updating and maintaining web pages as needed. This is a multi-functional position designed for an individual who is creative, tech-savvy, and capable of coordinating with different departments to ensure smooth digital communication and IT functioning.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Support
- Provide first-line IT support to staff and faculty across both campuses.
- Assist with account setup, password resets, device troubleshooting, and software installations.
- Support Microsoft 365 services (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive).
- Maintain IT asset records and assist with new equipment setup.
- Support digital communication such as notifications, announcements, and internal updates.
- Web Support (Basic Web Development Exposure)
- Update website content (text, images, notices, programme information) using WordPress or CMS.
- Assist in minor layout adjustments using HTML/CSS when needed.
- Coordinate with external web developers for larger updates or issues.
- Ensure webpages for admissions, HR, events and academic updates remain current.
- Coordination & Communication
- Work closely with Admissions, HR, Academics and Operations to gather updates for posting.
- Ensure digital communication is timely, consistent, and aligned with branding.
- Assist in marketing activities including student recruitment campaigns, event promotion, and visual content preparation.
- Networking
- Diagnose and resolve network issues (LAN/WAN, routing, switching, Wi‑Fi).
- Configure and maintain firewalls, rules, and security policies.
- Set up, support, and troubleshoot VPN access (remote users, site‑to‑site).
- Deploy, maintain, and repair hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals.
- Monitor system performance and respond to outages or security events.
- Document incidents, changes, and support procedures.
- Work with vendors and internal teams for escalations and improvements.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Marketing, Media, or related field.
- Experience handling social media platforms professionally.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Exposure to web development (WordPress, HTML, CSS) is required but not at an advanced level.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a willingness to learn and support multiple functions.
Preferred Skills
- Basic design experience using Canva, Photoshop, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of social media boosting, analytics, or digital marketing fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Power Automate or workflow automation tools.
- Exposure to SEO concepts is an advantage.
Work Pattern
- 5 days on‑site
- 3 days – Tower Bridge Campus
- 2 days – Brentford Campus
- Working Hours: FLEXIBLE DAYS INCLUDE WEEKENDS AS WELL, 10 AM – 6:30 PM
