Are you a practical, site-focused SHEQ professional who prefers being out with the teams rather than stuck behind a desk? Do you want a role where you can genuinely influence behaviours on site, raise standards, and build a proper safety-first culture rather than just tick compliance boxes? If you enjoy coaching supervisors, improving systems, and being the go-to person for safety, environmental, and quality support across live projects, this is a strong opportunity to step into a visible and valued position.
The Company: Our client is a specialist contractor delivering sports pitches, landscaping, civils, and associated infrastructure projects across the UK, working with schools, local authorities, and commercial clients. They operate with a strong reputation for quality and long-term client relationships, supported by certified management systems and a proactive approach to safety and sustainability. With continued growth and a busy pipeline, they are strengthening the SHEQ team to ensure standards remain high across every site.
The Role: Working closely with the Head of SHEQ, you will support the delivery of safety, environmental, and quality management across multiple projects. This is a hands-on role with a strong site presence. You will be visible to supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors, providing practical guidance, carrying out inspections, and helping teams get things right first time. You will play a key part in embedding a positive behavioural safety culture while maintaining compliance with ISO standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and review of RAMS and Construction Phase Plans
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks with clear reporting and action tracking
- Coach operational teams and subcontractors on safe systems of work
- Support incident reporting, investigations, and lessons learned
- Monitor compliance with ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 standards
- Track environmental performance and support sustainability initiatives
- Review subcontractor SHEQ documentation during onboarding and live works
- Assist with traffic management planning and site logistics at tender and delivery stages
- Maintain training records and book relevant CSCS, CPCS, NPORS, and HSE courses
- Deliver inductions and refresher training on site
- Update internal SHEQ systems, documentation, and dashboards
- Prepare monthly reports and support internal and external audits
- Attend pre-start and progress meetings as the SHEQ representative
- Act as the day-to-day point of contact for clients and subcontractors on compliance matters
What We’re Looking For:
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent with IOSH membership
- Around three or more years’ experience in construction SHEQ, ideally within civils, groundworks, or sports projects
- Confident producing and reviewing RAMS and delivering audits
- Comfortable working across multiple sites and building relationships with site teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and influence rather than police
- Organised, detail-focused, and proactive in solving issues before they escalate
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and digital systems such as SharePoint or similar
Why Join:
- Varied, site-based role with real influence on projects and people
- Work closely with an experienced Head of SHEQ and senior leadership team
- Growing contractor with a steady pipeline of secured work
- Hybrid flexibility with a good mix of office, home, and site
- Competitive salary, car or allowance, 25 days holiday, and pension
If you are a practical SHEQ Advisor who enjoys being on site, building relationships, and raising standards in a constructive way, this is a solid next step with a business that takes safety and quality seriously.
