An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Estimating Manager to join a successful and growing construction business based in Essex. The business delivers complex construction projects across specialist sectors, with a strong reputation for technical expertise, quality delivery and a client‑focused approach. They are continuing to grow and are looking for an experienced estimating professional to strengthen and develop their pre‑construction function.
This is a key role within the business, managing and leading an established team of 7 experienced estimators. The focus is not just on producing tenders, but on improving the overall estimating function; driving efficiency, consistency, quality and ultimately increasing the company's success rate in winning work.
They are looking for someone who genuinely understands estimating at a senior level and has the credibility, experience and leadership skills to manage an established team.
The Role- Manage, mentor and develop a team of 7 estimators
- Oversee tender strategy, ensuring submissions are accurate, competitive and commercially strong
- Review and improve estimating processes to increase efficiency and tender success rates
- Analyse tender performance, win/loss ratios and identify areas for improvement
- Support the team with complex tenders and provide senior estimating input
- Drive best practice across the estimating department
- Work closely with senior management, commercial and operational teams to ensure tenders align with delivery capability
- Introduce improvements around processes, reporting and ways of working
- Help maximise opportunities and improve the business's ability to win new work
You will ideally be an experienced Estimating Manager or Senior Estimator ready to step into a leadership role, with a strong track record managing an established estimating team.
You’ll need:
- Proven experience managing a team of estimators
- Strong understanding of the full tendering process
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to analyse opportunities strategically
- Experience improving estimating processes and performance
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders
- Ability to lead experienced estimators and add value without micromanaging
- A strong understanding of what good estimating looks like and how to improve performance
This role would suit someone who has strong estimating knowledge, understands the detail behind successful tenders, and enjoys developing teams and improving how a department operates.
Package- £100,000+ salary (depending on experience)
- £10,000 flexible package allowance (car allowance, private healthcare, etc. depending on preference)
- 22 days holiday + bank holidays
