Do you get satisfaction from a pay run that balances first time? Join Lomond Group as a Payroll Assistant, reporting to our Head of Payroll & keeping pay accurate for our North regions. You'll be based at our Liverpool Street office in London, working three days in the office & two from home.
Our regional Managing Directors rely on you for accurate pay & clear answers, & you'll help move payroll away from manual admin through smarter use of our systems. Zellis ResourceLink experience or a Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) qualification would help, but we're also open to people changing career or starting out in payroll.
What you'll be doing
- Be the key payroll contact for our regional Managing Directors
- Answer employee & manager payroll queries accurately & promptly
- Run the region's monthly payrolls end to end, so everyone is paid correctly on pay day
- Process salary changes, starters & leavers in the correct pay period
- Handle sickness, parental leave & the related statutory pay in line with current UK legislation
- Reconcile every pay run, resolving discrepancies before payroll is finalised
- Process all regional expenses accurately & on time
- Manage pension contributions & auto-enrolment so we meet every workplace pension deadline
- Use payroll software & Microsoft 365 to automate routine admin
- Turn payroll data into analysis that supports decision making across the North regions
What you'll need
We’re not just looking for someone who fits our team; we want to be a good fit for you too! We’re looking for individuals with qualities such as:
- Payroll processing skills (salary changes, starters, leavers & statutory payments) & working knowledge of current UK payroll legislation, including statutory sick & parental pay
- A sharp eye for data discrepancies & the persistence to trace & fix them before payroll is finalised
- The ability to manage your own workload & hit every payroll deadline with minimal supervision
- An instinct for simplifying processes & the follow-through to put improvements in place
- Clear, concise communication, written & verbal, with employees, managers & senior stakeholders
- Microsoft 365 skills (Excel, Outlook, Power BI & Power Automate) or a willingness to learn them, with a track record of picking up new systems on the job
