About the role:
All Class 1/ Class 2 HGV Drivers work normal working hours Monday to Friday. You will be delivering and collecting palletised cargo throughout the Suffolk area, using curtain-sided vehicles. You will be responsible for the following:
- Submit vehicle checks on at least a daily basis, noting any defects and ensuring you are always operating safely and legally
- Manage routes and routines to proceed in the most efficient way possible, communicating any significant deviations from those planned and agreed
- Find ways to conserve resources, including fuel and equipment
- Serve as a company ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public
- Comply with all governing law and in-house regulations and rules
- Supervise the loading and unloading of goods, always ensuring adequate safety and security
- Provide clear POD whether written or electronic for each consignment
- Communicate with the traffic office any issues and accidents in a professional and constructive manner
About you:
You will hold a full UK driving licence with Category C+E (formerly class 1) entitlement and a current/ valid CPC. Preference of 2 years’ experience as a Class 1 / 2 HGV Driver in a similar role is preferable but not essential as we pride ourselves on offering a good induction programme for the right candidate. You must have excellent communication skills, a courteous and professional manner. You will be expected to keep the vehicle safe, clean, and tidy at all times. ADR and / or a Forklift Licence is desirable though not essential.
