Overview

The Business Control Unit (BCU) is a first line team within the Fixed Income Division which covers risk areas, including Non-Market Risk (Operational Risk), Counterparty Risk, Conduct Risk and Contract Negotiations. The BCU Institutional Securities Documentation Team covers the contract negotiation function for trading agreements for Fixed Income (including Commodities) and is currently looking for a derivatives and financing documentation negotiator with a focus on institutional clients of the Fixed Income, Commodities and Finance Divisions. The role involves collaborating with various areas of the Firm, interacting with external clients, and negotiating different types of derivatives documentation.

What will you be doing?

  • Drafting and negotiating legal documentation (including master agreements, amendments, and ancillary documents required for OTC derivatives, repurchase or stock loan transactions).
  • Handling client negotiations and any related projects to ensure timely execution and completion.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders in Credit, Risk Management, Legal and Sales to negotiate contractual terms and respond to internal and external questions.
  • Identifying necessary documentation for the clients to trade securities or OTC derivatives and perform related due diligence scans.
  • Understanding and adhering to established procedures.
  • Communicating with clients and external counsel.
  • Keeping abreast of market developments and sharing updates with internal stakeholders.
  • Updating internal workflow tools.

What We're Looking For

  • Prior experience in a law firm or the financial industry negotiating trading agreements.
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating agreements required for OTC derivatives, repurchase or stock loan transactions.
  • Education Level: Degree in law / business administration degree or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent people skills, general comfort with technology (particularly Microsoft Word and Excel); a quick learner, including learning internal computer systems, and ability to set, track, achieve and report on short/long term goals and projects.

Essential Characteristics:

  • Organized, detail-oriented, self-starter (highly proactive), comfortable interacting with junior and senior colleagues, commercial, willing to assist / teach other members of the team, ability to work collaboratively on group projects and independently on individual assignments.

Languages: French, Spanish, Italian or German would be useful, but not essential.
