The Disclosures team within Glasgow Finance is part of the global External Reporting team which produces financial regulatory reporting of the Firm in accordance with multiple accounting and regulatory frameworks. We have a demand for a career minded individual to join our team. The team is responsible for preparing certain external reporting disclosures of the Firm which are produced in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS as well as preparation of components of Financial Regulatory reporting to several Regulators including the Bundesbank and European Banking Authority. As a result of the ever changing regulatory and financial reporting environment the team is a key contributor across numerous projects arising as new requirements are issued by Regulators. The Disclosures team also invests in ongoing continual enhancement of our production processes through digital tooling and our reporting control environment. The team work closely with several stakeholders across the Firm including Global Product Controllers for the Institutional Securities Group business unit, Finance Technology as well as Legal Entity Control, and the Accounting Policy Group. The team currently consists of 26 members based in Glasgow. There is a collaborative culture and a positive work environment, as evidenced by the average service length.
What You’ll Do In The Role
- Managing staff within the statistical reporting team, providing support and guidance to ensure delivery against production timetables.
- Reviewing Regulatory Balance Sheet-based reporting.
- Reviewing commentary and analysis to support reporting.
- Providing SME expertise to the production team to trouble shoot data issues during quarterly production.
- Responding to review questions raised by report owners.
- Communicating and escalating to line management.
- Presenting disclosures and analytics to members of Finance Senior Management for due diligence before filing externally.
- Building an understanding of reporting requirements and Morgan Stanley policies.
- Ensuring statistical reporting adheres to the defined governance model and control framework, ensuring consistency with the key reporting produced across the wider team.
- Maintaining written procedures documents, ensuring key controls are in place.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- Experience of financial/regulatory/external reporting.
- Experience of working with large datasets.
- Knowledge of financial products and their accounting e.g. Derivatives, Secured Financing Transactions.
- Experience of managing people, delegating tasks, providing career guidance and developmental feedback.
- Excellent communication skills including ability to escalate effectively and in a timely manner.
- Appreciation of escalation and risk awareness.
- Ability to challenge issues and processes.
- Self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong work ethic with an ability to take responsibility for completing tasks and working to deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously and liaise with/influence a range of senior stakeholders.
- Ability to balance and effectively prioritise multiple issues.
- A track record of building effective working relationships with a variety of different stakeholders.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
