A fabulous opportunity for an experienced R&D Engineer to join the small yet growing, dedicated and talented team at Lola as we embark on the next phase of the adventure. The Technical Support Engineer will primarily support the Project Leader of the Gen 4.0 Formula E car across all engineering, testing and build duties. To act as the deputy for the Project Leader on certain delegated tasks.
Role Responsibilities
- Supporting Project Leader in the preparation and review of design activities (for example, designing components such as sensor brackets, tools, ballast, etc).
- Supporting tasks such as car mass tracking, homologations, test rig signoff, fault finding and build quality approval.
- Supporting the Project Leader at the interface between design / engineering and car build.
- Ensuring all design and technical documentation is completed in a disciplined, well organised manner and that the relevant Lola team members have access to the information they require.
- Assisting with the organisation of R&D testing, processing and interpreting results.
- Programme related tasks and information gathering to support the design work of the design engineers.
- Compiling build reports, test request documents, test reports.
Technical Skills Required
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of racing car electrical, brake, steering and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of FIA race car homologation and crash testing procedures.
- Knowledge of Engineering drawings.
Skills Required
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong problem solving skills and proactive attitude.
- Well organised, with strong time management abilities.
- Ability to present ideas clearly and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Strong Engineering experience with race car and prototype builds.
- Experience within Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace or other performance-focused organisation is advantageous.
Role Location & Hours
The role will be based at the Silverstone, Lola Facility with the potential for some flexibility for remote working. 40 hrs a week, normal working days Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day.
