A fabulous opportunity for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join the small yet growing, dedicated and talented team at Lola as we embark on the next phase of the adventure. The role will primarily involve creating engineering CAD schemes, detailing component designs and drawings following Lola’s design and engineering guidelines, and working across multiple projects as required.
Role Responsibilities:
- Creation of engineering CAD schemes
- Detailed component designs and drawings
- Flexible to work across more than one project as required
- Ensures all design output is of a high standard and meets Lola requirements, standards and guidelines
- Contributes to project technical specifications, project plan and budget in collaboration with Design Team Leaders and Technical Project Leaders
- Contributes regular updates to the Project Mass Tracker and inputs to the Project Report
- Assists with managing technical activities carried out by external suppliers for design, development and production – ensuring technical, quality and budgetary requirements are met
- Supports with technical management – defining and selecting internal and external resource requirements
- Works with the Technical Specialists to optimise designs within technical, timing and budget constraints
- Contributes to Design Review Meetings, attends regular Project Review Meetings to develop designs in line with the project requirements
- Contributes to: The FMEA process, Project Faults and Project Technical Operating documentation, Build Manual, Torque List, Operating Limits, Component Maintenance and Lifing Schedule, Proposals for Rig and Track test activities
- Provides design and technical information as required by the relevant Governing Bodies
- Ensures all design and technical documentation is saved in a disciplined, well organised manner and that the relevant Lola team members have access to the information they require
Technical Skills Required:
- 5 years minimum experience in mechanical engineering, ideally in a motorsport design office or a comparable environment working with high performance parts
- Strong CAD knowledge and experience (Catia 3dx preferable) (3D and 2D proficiency)
- Part design, assembly design, proprietary component specification and stress analysis
- Experience of FEM calculations
- Knowledge of PLM System (Dassault 3d Experience Preferable)
- Proficient PC skills

Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Degree Level or commensurate work experience
- Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical engineering degree desirable but not essential
- Project Management experience desirable but not essential
- An interest in and understanding of engineering/motorsport
The Successful Candidate Might Be:
- An existing Senior Design Engineer in a motorsport/automotive company
- A Design Engineer who has acquired the appropriate experience, skills & knowledge
- An experienced engineer with the relevant skills and knowledge
Location: Silverstone, Lola Facility; Remote work flexibility. 40 hrs a week, Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day.
