What You Will Be Doing

Carry out the mechanical preparation, build, inspection, servicing, repair, and presentation of the Lola Formula E car(s) for race and test events under the direction of the Chief Mechanic.

  • Complete allocated work safely, accurately, and to schedule, following build sheets, setup sheets, drawings, work orders, and instructions from the Chief Mechanic and engineering team.
  • Prepare and maintain assigned mechanical systems and components, including suspension, steering, braking, wheel and tyre systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, cooling, bodywork, and composite components.
  • Support garage and pit-lane operations during events, ensuring the car, equipment, tools, and working area are ready for each session and managed to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist with car assembly, setup changes, component changes, inspections, repairs, and rebuilds between sessions, working efficiently within tight event deadlines.
  • Carry out fault-finding and mechanical rectification, reporting issues promptly to the Chief Mechanic and supporting engineers with clear, factual information.
  • Complete torque checks, measurements, inspections, cleanliness checks, and sign-offs in accordance with team procedures, ensuring all critical work is recorded and traceable.
  • Support the safe integration and operation of high-voltage and electric powertrain systems, working only within the team's electrical safety procedures and authorised responsibilities.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, spares, consumables, lifting equipment, and garage infrastructure in a clean, safe, serviceable, and event-ready condition.
  • Assist with the packing, loading, transport, receipt, and preparation of race and test cars, spares, and equipment for domestic and international events.
  • Contribute to reliability and continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, suggesting practical improvements, and supporting preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate build records, inspection sheets, fault reports, component histories, and post-event documentation as directed by the Chief Mechanic.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Mechanic, Race Engineer, engineers, mechanics, operations, logistics, and performance groups to deliver safe, legal, reliable, and high-performance car operation.
  • Support the development of team procedures and best practices, and undertake other reasonable mechanical duties required to support the Lola Formula E team.

  • Physically capable of working safely in a demanding garage, pit-lane, workshop, and event environment, including extended periods on feet.
  • Demonstrates a strong interest in motorsport, electric vehicle technology, and reliable high-performance engineering.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Relevant mechanical, automotive, motorsport, or engineering technical qualification, apprenticeship, or commensurate practical experience.
  • Previous experience in a professional motorsport workshop, race team, automotive engineering, or similarly demanding mechanical environment is desirable.
  • Experience in Formula E, Formula 1, WEC, LMDh, Indy Car, Formula 2, or another high-level motorsport category is desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of race-car mechanical systems, including suspension, steering, braking, wheel and tyre systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and composite components.
  • Experience working around high-voltage electric powertrains, together with relevant electrical safety training or authorisation, is desirable.

Role, Location & Hours

The role will be based at the Silverstone, Lola Facility, with regular travel required for Formula E race and test events.

The successful applicant must be adaptable and flexible regarding working hours, including evenings and weekends, to support event attendance, vehicle preparation, and testing.

A normal working week is 40 hours, 8 hours a day Monday to Friday, with additional race and test event commitments as required.
