Salary: Competitive based on experience Location: Silverstone / race and test events

Hours: Full-time Role Type: Permanent

Reports to: Deputy Team principal

The Opportunity:

At Lola Cars, we are building something special.

As one of the most iconic names in motorsport, design, build, engineer and race world-class race and road cars from our new headquarters at Silverstone, and we need exceptional people behind every part of that journey.

We have a fabulous opportunity for a skilled and highly motivated Trackside IT Support Engineer to join our Formula E team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our trackside and factory-based technology, connectivity and engineering systems operate reliably throughout race and test events. This fast-paced position combines hands-on IT support, network infrastructure and problem-solving within an elite motorsport environment, helping our engineers and operations team perform at their best when every second counts.

What you will be doing:

Provide dependable, responsive IT support for the Lola Formula E team at the Silverstone facility and during race and test events. Keep the team’s trackside technology, connectivity, engineering workstations, and event-critical services ready and available so engineers and operations staff can focus on safe, effective vehicle running.

  • Deliver first-line and hands-on IT support to engineers, mechanics, drivers, and operational staff at the factory, race events, and tests, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare, deploy, configure, and test event IT infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, switches, routers, internet links, cabling, and agreed backup connectivity.
  • Set up and support laptops, engineering workstations, displays, printers, docking stations, shared storage, and other user and event equipment.
  • Support the IT services and approved software used by engineering and performance groups, including data access, analysis workstations, file services, and collaboration tools.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, account, connectivity, and peripheral issues methodically, prioritising safety-critical and session-critical work during busy event periods.
  • Monitor the availability and performance of trackside IT services, identify emerging faults, keep clear incident records, and escalate issues to specialist teams or suppliers when required.
  • Maintain user accounts, permissions, endpoint configuration, patching, anti-malware controls, and other security measures in line with Lola policies and approved procedures.
  • Help maintain secure and reliable data exchange between the trackside team and the Silverstone facility, coordinating remote support and access with factory colleagues.
  • Complete pre-event checks, software and configuration validation, data backups, recovery checks, and readiness documentation; support orderly service restoration when faults occur.
  • Coordinate with equipment, network, software, and event-service suppliers to arrange support, resolve faults, and ensure agreed services are available when needed.
  • Manage trackside IT equipment, spares, cables, asset records, and packing lists, ensuring equipment is labelled, protected, accounted for, and ready for transport.
  • Provide practical support for event communications, meeting-room technology, displays, and audio-visual equipment as required by the team.
  • Handle confidential engineering, commercial, personnel, and partner information responsibly, following data-protection, cyber-security, and information-handling requirements.
  • Record and communicate planned changes, service interruptions, and workarounds; maintain accurate system and network documentation. Support event pack-down, equipment return, incident reporting, and post-event reviews, capturing lessons that improve reliability and repeatability.

What we are looking for:

  • A service-focused, self-motivated approach, with a genuine commitment to helping colleagues and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Strong practical troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to diagnosing faults across hardware, operating systems, applications, and networks.
  • Working knowledge of IT networking fundamentals, including wired and wireless connectivity, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and common network diagnostics.
  • Confident supporting Windows laptops and workstations; familiarity with Linux systems, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, or similar tools is beneficial.
  • Calm, organised, and effective under time pressure, able to prioritise competing requests and respond positively when event plans or conditions change.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues and practical workarounds to colleagues with different levels of IT knowledge.
  • Careful and methodical working practices, including accurate documentation, asset tracking, configuration control, and timely escalation of risk.
  • A sound understanding of cyber-security principles, access control, password hygiene, phishing risks, and the need to protect confidential data.
  • Able to work collaboratively with engineering, performance, operations, logistics, factory IT, and external suppliers while maintaining professional conduct.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the resilience to work evenings, weekends, and extended event schedules and to travel internationally when required.
  • Practical and resourceful when setting up, moving, and checking IT equipment in garages, paddocks, workshops, and temporary event environments.
  • Committed to safe working practices and able to follow event, workshop, electrical, and high-voltage exclusion-zone procedures; no work on vehicle high-voltage systems unless specifically trained and authorised.
  • Demonstrates a strong interest in motorsport, Formula E, and the use of technology to support high-performance engineering and sustainable mobility.

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • A relevant IT, computing, networking, or systems-support qualification, or equivalent practical experience in an IT support role.
  • Professional experience providing end-user IT support, ideally in a fast-paced, event-based, engineering, automotive, or motorsport environment.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Windows devices, user accounts, software, peripherals, and wired or wireless networks.
  • Familiarity with network equipment, servers or shared storage, backup processes, endpoint security, and remote-support tools; relevant vendor certifications are desirable.
  • Full, unrestricted right to travel internationally for race and test events; a current passport and full driving licence are desirable.

Role:

The role will be based at the Lola facility in Silverstone, with regular travel to Formula E race and test events. The successful applicant must be flexible regarding working hours, including evenings and weekends, to support event preparation, live vehicle running, and pack-down. A normal working week is 40 hours, Monday to Friday, with additional race and test event commitments as required.
