Lokal is a marketplace and commerce platform dedicated to helping African, Caribbean, and Black-owned businesses grow online. We provide entrepreneurs with tools to showcase their businesses, connect with customers, and build their presence in the digital economy.

We are looking for passionate volunteers who believe in supporting local businesses and strengthening communities. As a Community Outreach Volunteer, you will help introduce African, Caribbean, and Black-owned businesses to Lokal by reaching out through social media, email, phone calls, and community groups. Your goal is to start conversations, explain the benefits of the platform, and encourage businesses to join. This is a flexible remote volunteer opportunity that can fit around work, studies, or other commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Identify African, Caribbean, and Black-owned businesses that may benefit from Lokal.
  • Reach out to business owners via social media, email, phone, or in person where appropriate.
  • Explain Lokal’s mission and how the platform can help businesses grow.
  • Help interested businesses begin the onboarding process.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions from business owners to help improve the platform.
  • Represent Lokal professionally and respectfully within communities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Confidence starting conversations with business owners.
  • Passion for supporting local businesses and diverse communities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • No previous sales experience required.
  • Familiarity with African, Caribbean, or Black business communities is a bonus but not essential.

Location: Remote

Compensation: Volunteer Position (Unpaid)

Time Commitment: Flexible. A few hours per week or more depending on availability.
