Business Development Specialist – FMCG Client Growth
Location: Hybrid – 2 office days (Nottingham) / 3 home days per week, with client travel as required
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We’re looking for a proactive and commercially focused Business Development Specialist to drive client acquisition and revenue growth across the FMCG sector. You’ll be responsible for developing new business opportunities, converting prospects from our pipeline, and strengthening long-term client relationships that deliver measurable results.
What you’ll be doing:
- Driving new business growth through proactive outreach, warm pipeline conversion, and re-engaging lapsed FMCG clients.
- Owning the end-to-end sales process – from identifying opportunities and pitching to closing deals and onboarding clients.
- Building and nurturing relationships with FMCG brands, retailers, and key decision-makers to secure ongoing business.
- Collaborating with marketing and client services to deliver high-impact retail and field campaigns that exceed client KPIs.
- Preparing proposals, tenders, and presentations that clearly demonstrate ROI and commercial value.
- Analysing performance data to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts.
- Expanding our digital presence (especially on LinkedIn) to engage prospects and showcase success stories.
- Visiting clients and stores to stay close to market trends, in-store execution, and competitor activity.
About you:
- Proven success in a business development or B2B sales role – ideally within FMCG, retail, or a related industry.
- A growth-focused mindset – confident generating leads, building relationships, and closing opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen and a consultative approach to identifying and solving client challenges.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Organised, driven and resilient – comfortable managing multiple prospects and deadlines.
- Proficient in Excel (for reporting) and PowerPoint (for client presentations).
- FMCG or retail experience highly desirable.
