Our client, a well-established freight forwarding and logistics business based in Witham, is currently looking to recruit an Import Freight Coordinator to join their growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience within freight forwarding, shipping, imports, or logistics coordination who is looking to join a busy and fast-paced environment with long-term career stability.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Import / Inbound Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating inbound sea freight shipments, handling customs documentation, arranging transport, and ensuring customer deliveries are completed efficiently and accurately. The role will also involve occasional export and airfreight coordination alongside day-to-day operational and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inbound sea freight shipments from initial instruction through to delivery
- Arrange occasional export shipments and airfreight movements
- Track shipments using shipping line systems and update customers accordingly
- Open and manage jobs using CargoWise
- Complete customs entries and associated customs documentation
- Prepare and submit Port Health documentation where required
- Liaise with customers, shipping lines, hauliers, and internal departments
- Arrange haulage and delivery schedules
- Ensure bonded cargo requirements are met
- Complete job costing and invoicing
- Maintain accurate Excel spreadsheets and system updates
- Support analysis reporting and file completion processes
Experience & Skills Required
- Previous experience within freight forwarding, shipping, logistics, or imports
- Knowledge of sea freight operations and customs procedures
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- CargoWise experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Positive and proactive attitude
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
