This Import / Export Key Accounts Role is an operations-based role, that requires a good level of commercial acumen in order to effectively manage the entire client requirement. The role is for someone who will thrive in a positive, team-oriented culture. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive attitude, strong collaboration skills, and a willingness to contribute to shared goals. The principal function of the role is to arrange and manage the cradle to grave transportation cycle by air, ocean, rail or road for import, export or cross trade as required. It is also to ensure correct rates are quoted and applied, along with all necessary paperwork cut or completed, to include legally compliant customs declarations for the release or export of the cargo. Key areas of responsibility include: * Quoting & Rating – repeat business for your responsible accounts. * Managing Ops – End to End / Job Load / Pre Alert / Clearance / Delivery / Billing / Costing. * Managing Clients – relationships / customer visits / remedial action / identify opportunities. * Internal Procedures – ensuring all SOP’s are followed and processes adhered to. * Financial – KPI’s met / maintained, mitigate losses. Key Tasks: * Create and issue quotations / rates to your customers. * Assist with the procurement of supplier rates / services where an appropriate rate / service is not available. * Customer retention & development via physical visit and regular check in telephone calls. Expansion of trade lanes, modes or directions & monitor and investigate periods of inactivity. * To request complete information & accurate documentation from customers for the preparation & submission to CDS for completion of import or export documentation. * To update and maintain shipment schedules, both in the system and proactively communicate and update customers on a regular basis on the status of their shipments. * To cost and invoice files accurately, utilising correct debtors and charge codes. * Obtain charges and cargo release details from agents, airlines and shipping lines, ensuring any original documents are handled accordingly for release, and payments of invoices are made in a timely manner. * Arrange the release and transportation of goods received to the client. * Optimise routes and identify carriers offering better / alternative routes (and rates) * Ensure shipment customs duty is collected as per Company policy and escalate any issues as necessary with immediate effect * Booking export shipments with airlines, ocean carriers and NVOCC’s – including the negotiated of rates, arranging collections and cutting of documents accurately. Experience Required * Operational experience in multi-modal end to end processes. * Sound industry knowledge * Good geographical knowledge * Proven experience of working in a similar environment. * Knowledge of Customs process and legal requirements.
