We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and determined PR Executive & Copywriter to take up a new role in our communications team, supporting our PR manager and editor of Logistics magazine. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your journalistic skills and media relationships in a fast-paced environment, driving coverage for our products, services and policy positions within our own publication and the wider media.
Logistics UK, formerly FTA, is one of the biggest business groups in the UK, representing the entire industry with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers. In short, you will join Logistics UK as a PR Executive & Copywriter and play a key role in delivering clear, engaging communications for one of the UK’s leading business groups.
You will write sharp, targeted content—from press releases to magazine features—build strong media relationships, and support campaigns that influence national conversations. The PR Executive & Copywriter's responsibilities are:
- Supporting the PR Manager and Editor to produce regular copy for our Logistics magazine and its supplements, as well as creating news releases, features and other written materials.
- Identifying and creating news stories and other opportunities to promote Logistics UK’s key messaging, selling them to all sectors of the press and broadcast outlets.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key journalists in both trade and consumer sectors.
- Researching and developing campaigns and media themes, in line with policy asks.
- Supporting the creation, distribution and editing of the weekly e-newsletter and supplements.
- Undertaking interviews and producing copy.
- Attending industry events and trade shows.
- Liaising with external suppliers to negotiate best price and ensure quality.
- Assisting with crisis management work, as required.
- Supporting the PR and Communications team as required.
Essential Experience, Skills & Attributes:
To be successful in this PR Executive & Copywriter role, you will bring:
- Experience gained working in a PR agency or within journalism.
- A good understanding of the media landscape and how it works.
- A proven track record of developing and maintaining strong relationships with journalists across various media sectors (experience in the transport sector is desirable but not essential).
- The ability to identify compelling stories and create engaging content to generate PR opportunities and editorial coverage.
- A passion for the news and the drive to spot and seize both proactive and reactive media opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for crafting clear, creative, and engaging articles.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced and changing environments.
- A curious mindset and eagerness to learn and grow.
- A confident and professional telephone manner, with strong ‘selling in’ skills.

Additional Information:
Please note that this role will involve travel within the UK and occasional out-of-hours and weekend working. The role is also hybrid-based – with 2 days per week in the Tunbridge Wells office and 3 days per week home-based.
