Role Purpose The Import Operator is responsible for managing and coordinating the end-to-end import process, ensuring timely delivery of goods while maintaining full compliance with customs and regulatory requirements. The role involves handling customs clearance, liaising with carriers, freight forwarders, and customers, and maintaining accurate records to support smooth and efficient international trade operations. Key Responsibilities * Coordinate and manage all aspects of import shipments from origin to final delivery. * Handle customs clearance procedures, including document preparation, classification of goods (HS codes), and submission to HMRC/customs authorities. * Ensure all shipments comply with local and international trade regulations. * Communicate with shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders, and hauliers to arrange timely collection and delivery of goods. * Liaise with customers to provide shipment updates, resolve queries, and deliver excellent service. * Monitor and track shipments to proactively address any delays or disruptions. * Verify and process shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, import licenses, etc.). * Manage import entries, duty, VAT payments, and deferment accounts. * Maintain accurate records of all import transactions for auditing and compliance purposes. * Collaborate with internal teams (sales, warehouse, finance) to ensure seamless flow of goods. * Investigate and resolve discrepancies, customs queries, or delays.
