Role Overview
The D365 Platform Manager is the end to end owner of Logicor's Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations service across all live countries. The role owns all three critical horizons: keeping the service running, keeping it maintained and compliant, and driving continuous improvement. Architecture and technical direction sit inside the role rather than beside it.
This role carries overall responsibility for a platform that supports finance, property and transactional operations across a pan-European business. It is a leadership role with a small, senior, multidisciplinary team.
Finance Systems defines what the platform should deliver by setting the functional roadmap, business priority, investment cases and benefits. The D365 Platform Manager owns whether it works through effective management of service stability, change, environments, security design, improvement and the supplier ecosystem. Both are accountable for achieving the same outcome and neither can succeed alone.
The role operates within the enterprise service management framework set by the Senior Service Delivery Manager and chairs the change advisory board for the platform.
Main Responsibilities
Run: Service Stability and Operations
- Own the availability, performance and reliability of the D365 service for all live countries, including period-end and out-of-hours cover arrangements.
- Own diagnosis. Every incident referred to a supplier leaves Logicor with a reproduction and a hypothesis attached, not a forwarded ticket.
- Manage incident, problem and request processes for the platform in line with the enterprise service management framework, escalating major incidents through the enterprise process.
- Own the consolidated backlog across break-fix, maintenance and improvement, and the prioritisation forum that ranks it with Finance Systems.
- Own the second-line functional capability, including the competency path that builds in-house depth and reduces dependency on external support.
Maintain: Change, Compliance and Security
- Chair the change advisory board for the platform and approve production change.
- Hold design authority for the security role model, including role architecture, privilege design and segregation-of-duties principles. Publication and administration of role changes sit with Application Support, so that the approver of a change is never its executor.
- Own the technical debt register, platform currency, regulatory and statutory changes, and the annual upgrade cycle.
- Own the pre-go-live configuration and data readiness checklist applied to every new country or entity, built from defect history and operational experience rather than from theory.
- Own disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements for the platform, including tested recovery.
Improve: Continuous Improvement and Architecture
- Own the continuous improvement pipeline and protect its capacity from incident demand.
- Own architecture and technical direction for the platform, working with Enterprise Architecture on design assurance, and direct the D365 Architect on design standards, integration patterns and roadmap alignment.
- Own automation, self-service and knowledge management that reduce demand at source.
- Evidence the value of improvement work in service and business terms.
People and Supplier Leadership
- Lead, develop and performance-manage the service line: functional consultants, developer, architect and release and environment manager.
- Manage the supplier ecosystem for the platform as one, including the managed service partner, independent software vendors and the platform vendor, with a single performance scorecard owned by Logicor.
- Hold suppliers to contracted service levels, attribution of defects, and remediation, and maintain the commercial evidence needed to do so.
- Direct all contracted capacity against a defined outcome and a handover artefact, so that capability transfers into Logicor rather than remaining with the supplier.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Experience & Qualifications
- Substantial experience owning a live Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations service in a multi-country organisation, through and beyond hypercare.
- Credible across both functional and technical conversations: able to challenge a functional design decision and a technical one in the same meeting.
- Proven line leadership of a mixed functional and technical team, including contract resource.
- Strong working knowledge of the D365 security role model, Lifecycle Services, environment management, One Version and the release process.
- Demonstrable experience holding implementation partners and independent software vendors to contracted outcomes, including disputed defect attribution.
- Experience of finance processes end to end; property or real estate module exposure is a strong advantage.
- Certifications such as ITIL v4 and relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365 credentials are desirable.
Key Success Measures
- Single accountable ownership of the D365 service demonstrably in place for all live countries.
- Open ticket queue stable or falling as country count grows, with mean time in system reducing.
- 90% of issues reproduced and hypothesised in-house before being passed to a third party.
- Change success rate, emergency change rate and post-release incidents trending favourably.
- Improvement capacity ring-fenced and delivering measurable enhancement throughput.
- Pre-go-live checklist applied to every wave, with a falling rate of repeat defect classes country on country.
- Vendor performance evidenced by an internally owned scorecard, with disputes resolved rather than aged.
