We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisor to join a secondary school from September 2026. The ideal candidate will have a subject specialism and be confident delivering cover within their area of expertise, while also being happy to provide general classroom cover across the school when required.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning when teachers are absent. You will supervise students, deliver pre-prepared lessons and ensure pupils remain engaged and focused throughout the school day. You will be able to make use of your subject specialism while also gaining valuable experience across a range of subjects and year groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher
- Delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring students remain on task
- Providing subject-specific support within your area of specialism
- Being flexible to provide general cover across different subjects
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively and consistently
- Supporting students with their learning and encouraging positive engagement
- Following school policies and maintaining high expectations
- Providing feedback to teaching staff where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a subject specialism or strong academic background in a particular subject
- Is confident working with secondary-aged students
- Is happy to deliver both subject-specific and general cover
- Has strong classroom management and communication skills
- Is reliable, adaptable and able to work across different year groups
- Can quickly establish positive relationships with students
- Is passionate about supporting young people and maintaining high standards
