About the Role

A growing professional services firm is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing high-quality accounting support to businesses and individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Complete corporation tax, self-assessment, and other tax compliance work.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Manage bookkeeping and financial record maintenance for clients.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare management accounts and financial reports.
  • Support clients with accounting queries and provide practical financial guidance.
  • Assist with year-end and month-end processes.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and professional advisers.
  • Maintain compliance with current accounting standards and tax legislation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and client service delivery.
  • Digitalising the business.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice or professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and tax compliance.
  • Experience preparing accounts for limited companies and sole traders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

Desirable

  • ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification (or studying towards qualification).
