GSL are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support students within a SEND school setting. This role involves working closely with teachers and support staff to help students access the curriculum, build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their full academic and personal potential. You will support students with a range of learning needs and abilities, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every young person can thrive and succeed.

You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of settings, including:

  • In-class support across a variety of subjects
  • One-to-one and small group interventions
  • Literacy and numeracy support
  • Behaviour support and positive relationship building
  • Exam preparation and coursework support
  • Enrichment activities, educational visits, and wider school events

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic progress, engagement, and wellbeing. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and other professionals to help students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support to students
  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups where required
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and participation in learning
  • Support students with organisation, study skills, and independent learning
  • Help students prepare for assessments, coursework, and examinations
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged students and staff
  • Patience, resilience, and adaptability
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and education
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience in education, coaching, youth work, mentoring, care, or support work is desirable but not essential
  • Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not required
