We are recruiting for a Project / Operations Manager on behalf of an established and growing business that specialises in Steel Frame Buildings, Cladding and Construction. This is a hands‑on role managing multiple steel frame structure builds across the UK, from pre‑start through to completion. Reporting to a Senior Contracts Manager, you'll oversee approximately 2–3 projects at any one time, with project values typically ranging from £50,000 to £500,000. The position offers a balanced split between office‑based planning and site‑based supervision, making it well‑suited to someone who is equally comfortable coordinating programmes, subcontractors and materials as well as being on‑site, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
The Role
As a Projects Manager, you'll take responsibility for steel building installation projects nationwide, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and in line with quality and safety expectations. The role is split between office‑based planning and coordination and site‑based work, so you'll need to be equally comfortable managing schedules and subcontractors as you are overseeing activity on site.
- Planning and coordinating labour, materials, subcontractors and site activity
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Visiting sites nationwide to monitor progress, quality and health and safety compliance
- Overseeing installation programmes and ensuring deadlines are achieved
- Maintaining high standards of customer service and project delivery throughout
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will have similar experience in a Site Manager, Project Manager or Operations Manager role, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Experience within steel, structural steel, cladding or wider industrial building or construction sector would be beneficial. You’ll hold a full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel and also the odd overnight stay.
Role Info
- Salary up to £40,000 + Bonus (£5k)
- Access to company vehicle for site visits
- 50/50 split office (Stoke‑on‑Trent) and site‑based
- Typical workload is 2–3 projects at any one time
- Overnight stays are not frequent, but may be required 1–2 times per month
