Workday & People Systems - Technical Delivery Manager - Cambridge based, hybrid working x2 days onsite per week, strong pension and 38 days holiday!

Are you an experienced Workday HCM professional looking to take ownership of a critical People Systems environment while leading a talented delivery team?

We’re looking for a Technical Delivery Manager – Workday & People Systems to lead the delivery, service management and continuous improvement of a complex Workday landscape.

This is a key leadership role where you’ll combine hands-on Workday expertise, technical delivery management and people leadership, ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, well governed and aligned with business needs.

The Role

You’ll lead a team of HR & Workday Solutions professionals, overseeing both technical delivery and 2nd/3rd line support across Workday and associated People Systems.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Leading the delivery of Workday solutions through Agile/Scrum, from user story refinement through to deployment and transition into live service.
  • Managing the ongoing Workday development and release roadmap.
  • Providing technical and functional expertise across the Workday environment.
  • Ensuring effective management of Workday biannual releases, tenant health and ongoing housekeeping.
  • Leading incident, service request and change management, ensuring agreed SLAs are consistently achieved.
  • Owning Workday access, security and data governance, ensuring audit readiness and data privacy.
  • Working closely with HR, People Operations, Recruitment, Payroll and wider Technology teams.
  • Managing third-party suppliers and implementation partners where required.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across People Systems support and delivery.
  • Coaching and developing the delivery team, building capability and supporting career development.
  • Acting as a key decision-maker during major incidents and ensuring rapid resolution of critical issues.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Workday specialist and delivery leader with

  • 5+ years' experience in Workday technical and functional configuration.
  • Strong Workday HCM knowledge, ideally with experience across additional modules such as Benefits, Advanced Compensation, Learning, Peakon or VNDLY.
  • Strong understanding of Workday security, permissions, data foundations and governance.
  • Proven experience managing Workday support, incidents and service requests.
  • Strong IT Service Management / ITIL knowledge.
  • Experience delivering technology through Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing technical teams.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and platform optimisation.

Certifications

Ideally, you'll hold

  • Workday HCM certification, plus at least one additional Workday certification.
  • ITIL certification.
  • Scrum Master / Agile certification.
