Our client is a busy, well-established independent garage dedicated to delivering dealership-standard workmanship with a friendly, community-focused service. They work on a massive variety of vehicle makes and models and pride themselves on a clean workshop, an honest approach to repairs, and investing in the latest diagnostic tools.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Vehicle Technician to join our client's close-knit team. You will be the go-to expert for complex diagnostics and advanced repairs. This role requires an adaptable mechanic who thrives on variety, enjoys problem-solving without manufacturer shortcuts, and takes pride in mentoring junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • All-Makes Diagnostics: Diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults across diverse vehicle makes and models.
  • Advanced Repairs: Complete major mechanical work, including engine rebuilds, cambelts, clutches, gearboxes, and suspension overhauls.
  • Routine Servicing: Perform efficient vehicle servicing, maintenance, and multi-point vehicle health checks.
  • MOT Testing: Conduct MOT tests (if qualified) and handle subsequent failure repairs efficiently.
  • Quality Assurance: Road-test vehicles and inspect completed work to guarantee first-time fixes and maximum safety.
  • Team Mentorship: Support and guide junior technicians and apprentices with difficult diagnostics or tricky repair procedures.
  • Workshop Efficiency: Maintain a clean, organized bay and ensure all workshop tools and diagnostic software are looked after.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Certification: NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent portfolio of experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in a workshop environment. Experience in an independent garage is highly desirable.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Proficient with aftermarket diagnostic equipment (e.g., Bosch, Snap-On, Autel, Topdon).
  • Licence: Valid, clean UK driving licence (essential for road testing).
  • MOT License: Active MOT Tester licence (Class 4 & 7) is highly preferred.
