Role responsibilities involve control and development of all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance and Safety as they relate to our UK operations and its products. This is a hands-on, development role for someone with an HNC/D who wishes to progress to a Manufacturing Engineering role. If a person excels in the role they could have the opportunity to progress onto a degree apprenticeship, to support their progression to a Manufacturing Engineer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintaining Plant and Equipment including CNC Sewing Machines (including programming), Ultra Sonic Welder, Spring Winder etc. Full training will be provided.
- Problem solving and diagnosing potential permanent corrective actions.
- Leading the introduction of a TPM system, sourcing systems taking into account requirements and budget.
- Responding to breakdowns and assure repair in the shortest time possible to minimise downtime.
- Producing jigs & fixturing, considering the product and QCDDSSM requirements as well as customer needs and expectations.
- Working in collaboration with the GM specifying and ordering: parts spares, parts and materials.
- Sourcing and oversee sub-contractors, to ensure legal regulations are adhered to in a cost effective manner.
- Overseeing Health and Safety requirements for all machinery and plant equipment.
- Supporting/Creating and improving business documentation and procedures, including work instructions/SOPs.
- Supporting the introduction of new products to the site and the associated machinery.
- Provide technical support on customer visits and events with willingness to travel in the UK and abroad.
- Training Operators to undertake daily basic maintenance required for their machines.
- Being supportive and flexible to work in Production, when required, from time to time.
- Promoting company culture and excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS
- HNC/D in Mechanical Engineering.
- Time-Served Mechanical.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years engineering experience in a manufacturing organisation (safety critical products preferred).
- Experienced in maintaining Pneumatic machinery.
