We are seeking a CAD Designer to produce and manage detailed design drawings and models using SolidWorks, taking ownership of design tasks from concept through to manufacture-ready documentation. This role sits between drafting support and full design engineering, with scope to work more independently and contribute design input, but without commercial or client-facing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed design drawings, models, and specifications for products and tooling
  • Create and modify 2D and 3D models for structures, components, and systems
  • Manage drawing catalogues and revisions, ensuring accessibility to engineering and other teams
  • Work closely with engineers to capture tooling and manufacturing requirements
  • Create and maintain plant/facility layout drawings
  • Review and modify designs to meet quality standards and specifications
  • Identify and flag design improvements or issues to senior engineering staff
  • Prepare documentation for project and design reviews
  • Provide technical input on drawings when queried by internal teams

Qualifications

  • Proven proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar with a willingness to learn) and strong CAD skills
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing techniques
  • Experience producing manufacture-ready documentation, not just conceptual drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design work
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Some prior industry experience preferred (but less than required for a full Design Engineer)
