We are seeking a CAD Designer to produce and manage detailed design drawings and models using SolidWorks, taking ownership of design tasks from concept through to manufacture-ready documentation. This role sits between drafting support and full design engineering, with scope to work more independently and contribute design input, but without commercial or client-facing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design drawings, models, and specifications for products and tooling
- Create and modify 2D and 3D models for structures, components, and systems
- Manage drawing catalogues and revisions, ensuring accessibility to engineering and other teams
- Work closely with engineers to capture tooling and manufacturing requirements
- Create and maintain plant/facility layout drawings
- Review and modify designs to meet quality standards and specifications
- Identify and flag design improvements or issues to senior engineering staff
- Prepare documentation for project and design reviews
- Provide technical input on drawings when queried by internal teams
Qualifications
- Proven proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar with a willingness to learn) and strong CAD skills
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing techniques
- Experience producing manufacture-ready documentation, not just conceptual drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design work
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Some prior industry experience preferred (but less than required for a full Design Engineer)
