Immigration Accredited Caseworker (IAAS Level 2)

Experience: 2 years + preferred

Location: Bayswater, London, W2 (not remote)

Salary: Negotiable

Start date: Negotiable

Contract: full time, permanent

Schedule: Monday to Friday

The Firm:

Solicitors firm undergoing rapid growth looking for strong and committed individuals seeking to advance their career.

Duties:

  • Report directly to Department Head and Director
  • Responsible for all aspects of Immigration work to include conducting legal research
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings, including litigation and negotiation
  • Dealing with a range of Immigration work including; detained clients; victims of trafficking & torture; asylum work from initial applications, fresh claims (further submissions), through to appeals and judicial review work
  • Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
  • Reviewing documents and preparing and managing cases
  • Preparing draft legal documents including witness statements and processing evidence
  • Drafting correspondence for clients, the Home Office and the immigration tribunal
  • Preparing applications to meet Home Office requirements (incl. drafting application forms, index of documents and letters of representations)
  • Attend court hearings and other legal proceedings
  • Advise clients on legal matters and provide guidance on potential outcomes
  • Reviewing documents and preparing application bundles
  • Maintaining accurate time recording procedures
  • Implementing any recommendations made by your Department Head, and/or Director
  • Ensuring compliance with file management

Required:

  • Must have experience dealing with Asylum/Immigration work
  • Demonstrate passion and experience in a broad range of Immigration/Asylum Law
  • Clear understanding and application of Immigration laws, rules and procedures
  • Strong command of English and knowledge of an additional language is a bonus
  • Ability to deal with vulnerable client matters in a sensitive manner
  • Must be able to work on tight deadlines and perform well under pressure
  • Knowledge for all aspects of Immigration work including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members
  • Ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide effective solutions
  • Committed and highly driven
  • Have a professional pro-active approach
  • Strong client care and management skills
  • Have technical expertise and guide to other team members
  • Assisting with delivery of appropriate training and development in the department
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage
  • Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business

Licence/Certification/Experience/Education:

  • Immigration and Asylum Accreditation (IAAS), Level 2 Senior Caseworker or higher with minimum 2 years’ experience
  • OISC, Level 2 caseworker or higher with minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Immigration Solicitor with minimum 2-year’s PQE experience
  • Bachelor’s (preferred though not essential)
