We are seeking an experienced Cloud Spend Manager (predominantly AWS) to report into the CTO’s organization and take ownership of building and maintaining a comprehensive cloud spend management framework. Following significant cost optimization efforts led by an external consultancy, this role will be responsible for turning those learnings into a sustainable, continuous process that ensures maximum operational efficiency at the lowest possible cloud cost.

The Cloud Spend Manager will drive cost governance, tooling, and metrics across our multi-product SaaS environment, ensuring all teams adhere to best practices for provisioning, tracking, and optimizing cloud resources while maintaining performance and reliability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, establish, and enforce a cloud spend management framework to continuously optimize cloud costs.
  • Implement and manage cost optimization strategies, including reserved instances, savings plans and discount programs, right-sizing, and workload scheduling.
  • Evaluate and roll out cloud spend management tools and practices to enhance visibility, accountability, and efficiency.
  • Lead the granularization of tagging, tracking, and reporting for cloud resources to enable accurate allocation and cost analysis.
  • Develop and deliver cloud utilization and cost metrics to leadership, ensuring transparency and proactive management.
  • Collaborate closely with CloudOps, engineering, finance, and product teams to balance cost efficiency with scalability and performance needs.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience managing AWS cloud environments, including cost optimization, governance, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience in a multi-product SaaS environment with significant and dynamic cloud workloads.
  • Strong understanding of AWS cost structures, billing mechanisms, and optimization levers (e.g., reserved instances, spot instances, auto-scaling).
  • Hands-on experience with tagging strategies, cost allocation, and reporting tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, or similar).
  • Proven ability to implement frameworks and processes that drive cost discipline across engineering and product teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate cost insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) to support cost efficiency efforts.
  • Prior involvement in post-consultancy cost optimization programs, taking them from project to ongoing practice.
