The predicted salary is between 12 - 13 € per hour.

We are recruiting for a HealthCare Assistant who will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to patients of the Practice. This post is for up to 30 hours per week working on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday as per the service need of the practice. The role involves travel between two sites (Lofthouse Surgery, Wakefield and The Manse Surgery, Rothwell) and may include occasional home visits. Applicants must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.

Main duties of the job:

  • Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
  • Assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by Practice Lead Nurse, GPS and Practice Manager.
  • NHS Health Checks.
  • Information gathering for chronic disease.
  • Basic Wound Care.
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
  • ECG Recording.
  • Vaccine / Cold Chain Storage, monitoring and recording.
  • Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
  • Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms.
  • Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager.
  • Ordering of Health Promotion Literature.
  • Ordering of stock.
  • Participation in administrative systems in the Practice.
  • Attending all training meetings at TARGET or at the practice.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Advise senior staff of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks.
  • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
  • Undertake home visits as required by the practice.
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post by the Partners or the Practice Manager.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in a Health Care Assistant role (Primary Care preferable).
  • Experience of working in an integrated multi-skilled team.
  • The ability to follow direction and standard operating procedures whilst also using own initiative.
  • The ability to be compassionate at all times.
  • Experience of using a range of IT including knowledge of using SystmOne.

Qualifications:

  • Formal Healthcare Assistant qualifications are preferred.
  • Experience working in the primary care setting would be beneficial.
  • Experience of HCA working, knowledge of Primary Care and the NHS.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Depending on experience: Between £12.50 - £13.19 per hour depending on experience.
