If you're a heritage consultant who wants to be closer to design, influence projects earlier, and play a bigger role in shaping the future of a team, this is a genuinely rare opportunity. Heritage here isn't treated as a supporting service brought in to validate decisions after they've been made. Instead, it sits at the heart of the design process, helping drive conversations, unlock opportunities and influence outcomes on some of the country's most significant heritage projects. It's also an opportunity to step into a leadership position with real scope to grow a team, develop people and help define the direction of a regional heritage offer. For ambitious consultants who feel they've reached a ceiling in their current environment, the chance to build something substantial without taking on the risk of starting a business is difficult to find.
What will you be doing? The role will see you leading complex heritage projects across a broad range of sectors, working alongside architects, designers, planners and clients to balance conservation priorities with ambitious development objectives. You'll provide strategic heritage advice, guide projects through planning and consent processes, contribute to business development activities and build long-term client relationships. Alongside project leadership, you'll support the development of junior colleagues and play an important role in growing the capability, profile and influence of the wider heritage team. The position would suit someone with strong consultancy experience who enjoys combining technical expertise with leadership, commercial awareness and a collaborative approach.
Where will you be doing it? You'll be joining one of the UK's most respected design-led practices, recognised for its work on landmark historic buildings, complex conservation challenges and nationally significant heritage projects. With a strong multidisciplinary culture, heritage specialists work alongside architects and designers as an integrated part of project teams rather than in isolation. The environment is collaborative, supportive and ambitious, giving people the freedom to develop new ideas, pursue opportunities and shape their own career progression. It's a place where talented individuals are trusted to make an impact, supported by colleagues who share a genuine passion for heritage, design and delivering exceptional work.
