An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CDM Advisor to join a specialist team delivering Principal Designer services across a diverse portfolio of complex and high-profile projects. This position is ideal for someone with existing CDM / Principal Designer experience who is looking to further develop their expertise within a design-led environment. You will work alongside experienced Principal Designers, supporting the delivery of CDM services from concept through to construction while developing the skills and experience required to progress into a senior Principal Designer role. The role offers exposure to exceptional projects, a structured development pathway, ongoing mentoring, and the opportunity to work within a collaborative and supportive culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Principal Designer services across a range of construction projects.
  • Assist with design risk reviews and the application of the Principles of Prevention throughout the design process.
  • Work closely with project teams to identify, eliminate and mitigate risks during the pre-construction phase.
  • Attend and contribute to design team meetings and risk workshops.
  • Support senior Principal Designers on larger, more complex projects.
  • Manage smaller projects independently with appropriate support and oversight.
  • Review design information and provide advice relating to CDM compliance and best practice.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation and reporting.
  • Build relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • 1-4 years' experience within a CDM Advisor, Principal Designer or similar health and safety role.
  • Experience working within construction, consultancy, design or the built environment sector.
  • A good understanding of CDM Regulations and the Principal Designer duty holder role.
  • Experience of pre-construction health and safety and design risk management.
  • Knowledge of the Principles of Prevention and how they are applied during the design process.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to develop professionally.
