As our Design Manager, you will demonstrate a practical, thorough, pro-active and efficient approach to design development and management of Design projects and the Design Department as it contributes to our revenue channels across the business nationally. You will manage a design department from the inception of a project through to its completion, reporting to the Sales Director. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Control and coordination of the complete design process involving the management of Interior Designers and internal stakeholders.
  • Liaison with relevant departments to ensure swift and accurate best practices.
  • Mentoring, supporting, and project allocation within the Design department.
  • Proving an enhanced level of technical and design knowledge, including a good working interpretation of Design Standards and LOFT Brand & Product Ranges.
  • Possessing commercial awareness to inform and develop design proposals to maximise design efficiency and profitability.
  • Monitoring the Project Design department's performance, ensuring timely production, efficient cost-effective solutions, compliance to specifications and current regulations.
  • Managing and supporting the Design Teams' interface and contribution to other sales channels in the business.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Pipeline reporting of management information on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis for LOFT Design.
  • Ensure all new leads are recorded on CRM and contacts updated.
  • Lead concept development in relation to design and creative outputs.
  • Commercial accountability through accurate scoping and quoting of work.
  • Develop and manage productivity to continuously improve the design team’s production capabilities.
  • Ensure that design and creative projects are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Provide quality control over design outputs and production.
  • Establish and develop best practice with the design and creative team.
  • Work with other team members to deliver projects and activities against deadlines.
  • Understand the designer’s role in the co-ordination and integration of project information and management.
  • Identify new business opportunities and arrange meetings to discuss LOFT products and services.
  • Plan and prepare presentations that showcase LOFT’s service offering.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing the LOFT brand nationally.
  • Develop Online strategy for Interior Design requests digitally.
  • Represent LOFT at networking events, trade exhibitions and conferences where required.
  • Manage interdepartmental communication and processes to deliver the Design revenue stream.
  • Liaise with and support Operations Teams in the delivery of Design revenue within the Project Channel.
  • On-site/off-site project management as business requires.
  • Manage and maintain contractual arrangements with sub-contractors and/or clients in London.
  • Attend pre-site meetings, agree and sign off T&Cs of service delivery as required.
  • Champion best practice on Property Styling.
  • Develop robust processes for High Specification Residential Design projects and Consultancy (fee-based work).
  • Arrange and attend de-brief meetings for residential projects.
  • Responsible for departmental budget.
  • Communicate the performance of Design to the wider business.

Team Management:

  • Communicate the Vision - translate into measurable goals and targets.
  • Develop skills of the team - identify individual training needs and encourage effective teamwork.
  • Embrace and encourage engagement with change programs.
  • Undertake regular 1:1s and annual appraisals, setting clear KPIs, deliverables and objectives for the team.
  • Manage and motivate your team in all aspects of their role - give recognition and praise.
  • Mentor and develop your team, making them accountable.
  • Share your knowledge with your team.
  • Responsible for training and induction of your team.
  • Develop your own skills and behaviour and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Regularly update your team on company progress and the impact of departmental output.
  • Promote Health & Safety best practices within the company.
