Lodestone Recruitment are recruiting for a Production Planner to join a leading manufacturing business within the structural steel sector. Based in Barnsley, this Production Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimising production activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with production planning experience ideally in fabrication or steel sectors looking to work on large-scale engineering projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to meet project deadlines
- Plan and coordinate labour, materials, and resources across the workshop
- Analyse project data to estimate fabrication hours and efficiency targets
- Monitor production performance and track KPIs, costs, and productivity
- Work closely with design, procurement, and operations teams
- Support estimating and commercial teams with costing and planning input
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers
- Identify and implement process improvements to maximise efficiency
Requirements
- Experience in production planning, manufacturing, or construction
- Strong understanding of fabrication or heavy engineering processes (steel experience highly desirable)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with planning software or Tekla Structures (desirable)
Qualifications
- Ideally apprentice trained or educated to NVQ, HNC, HND or degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Fabrication/Welding
- Background in structural steel or similar heavy industry
