The hours are genuinely flexible. The default pattern is 22 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8am–2pm, but our client is open to arranging the hours around the right person.
The role:

- Handling the full onboarding process: pre-employment screening, offer letters, contracts, job descriptions and first-day inductions
- Running performance management, probation and appraisal meetings, ensuring a consistent, legally compliant approach
- Advising and supporting line managers on performance, capability, disciplinary and grievance matters, taking notes and preparing papers, and seeking external professional advice where needed
- Managing attendance — return-to-work interviews, Bradford Factor monitoring, medical referrals (with appropriate consent) and monthly reporting
- Employee engagement and communications, including newsletters, updating the Employee Handbook and running staff consultations on terms and conditions
- Processing leavers, calculating annual leave entitlement and conducting exit interviews
- Maintaining personnel and payroll records (via Moorepay) in full compliance with GDPR
- Liaising with the Health & Safety Officer on occupational health matters
- Keeping up to date with employment legislation and general HR administration
What you will need:
- Proven experience in a generalist HR Advisor / HR Manager role, ideally standalone or with significant autonomy
- Sound, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Confidence advising and supporting managers at all levels, including on ER matters
- Strong administration and record-keeping with a clear understanding of GDPR
- A self-starter who can work independently and manage their own workload
- CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable
What’s on offer:
- £40,000 per annum (pro rata for 22 hours)
- 12-month fixed-term contract (Maternity cover)
- Part-time hours with genuine flexibility — Monday to Thursday 8am–2pm, or arranged around you
