We're currently recruiting a dedicated Porter to help ensure the smooth running of operations at Chartwells on a full time basis, contracted to 37.5 hours per week.

About The Role
We are looking for a reliable, organised and hardworking Storeman / Kitchen Porter to join our busy school catering team.
This is a varied role combining responsibility for the day-to-day management of our stores with supporting the Kitchen Porter (KP) section. The successful candidate will help ensure that deliveries are received and stored correctly, stock is maintained to a high standard and the kitchen and catering areas are kept clean, organised and ready for service.
Key Responsibilities β Stores
- Receive and check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Check the quality, quantity, condition and temperature of incoming food deliveries.
- Ensure all food and supplies are stored safely and correctly.
- Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Monitor use-by and best-before dates and report any concerns.
- Maintain accurate stock records and assist with regular stocktakes.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or ordering requirements to management.
- Ensure fridges, freezers and dry stores are clean, tidy and well organised.
- Complete and maintain appropriate temperature records.
- Ensure food is correctly labelled, dated and stored.
- Safely move and handle deliveries and stock.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and food safety within all storage areas.
Key Responsibilities β Kitchen Porter
- Support the KP team with the day-to-day cleaning and organisation of the kitchen.
- Ensure crockery, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitised effectively.
- Operate commercial dishwashers safely and correctly.
- Keep kitchen floors, work areas and equipment clean and free from hazards.
- Assist with waste disposal and recycling in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised pot wash area.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
- Assist with the cleaning and preparation of catering areas as required.
- Follow all cleaning schedules and procedures.
- Ensure cleaning products are stored and used safely in accordance with COSHH requirements.
Food Safety & Health and Safety
- Follow all company HACCP, food safety, health and safety and COSHH procedures.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Report damaged goods, spillages, hazards, equipment faults or food safety concerns immediately.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.

Experience
Previous experience in stores, catering, kitchen porter, hospitality or warehouse work would be advantageous, although full training will be provided for the right candidate.
A Food Hygiene Certificate would be desirable.
