We are looking for a solicitor to join our Agriculture and Landed Estates team, working closely with and supporting senior fee earners on a wide range of matters and having their own case load. The Agriculture and Landed Estates team at Lodders covers all aspects of legal work for the agricultural and rural client base, principally property‑related and acts for a wide range of clients. The team focuses on all aspects of non‑contentious work, advising on farm and rural land acquisitions and disposals but also agricultural tenancies, partnership matters, as well as estate management, secured lending, and succession transfers. We work closely with our private client team on succession and partnership matters and estate administration, with our strategic land team on development matters and with our renewable energy team too.
Key tasks/responsibilities:
- Title review and reporting.
- Land sales and purchases.
- Transfers of whole and part.
- Overage arrangements.
- Agricultural Tenancies – for landlords and tenants.
- Deed of Easements.
- Land Registration.
- Sales by Auctions.
- Secured lending work.
- On all matters, dealing directly with solicitor and client enquiries, along with any internal enquiries.
- Ensuring that all client matter schedules are up to date and are maintained for both internal and external use.
- Participating in and instigating business development activity, including attendance at appropriate events and production of content for publication.
- Undertaking a range of continuing professional development activities.
Knowledge, education and experience required:
- Relevant post qualification property (not necessarily agricultural) experience.
- A commercial approach to problem solving and providing innovative solutions.
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads, working to tight deadlines where the input of others is often required, keeping accurate time records, organising files and carrying out all necessary administrative tasks.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Confident and effective communication skills.
- The ability to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- A commercial approach to client service.

You will be able to demonstrate a strong intellect, evidenced with a high level of academic achievement, and be someone who shows initiative, drive, and excellent organisation skills. We expect you to be a genuine team player and a great communicator, who enjoys helping and working alongside others. You will be eager to learn, develop and hone your skills to take advantage of the opportunities for career development.
