We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) at Salisbury District Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your critical care nursing skills within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
Our ITU provides specialist care for patients with life-threatening or complex medical and surgical conditions who require close monitoring and advanced organ support. As an ITU nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care to critically ill adults in accordance with Trust and NMC standards.
- Undertake comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Manage and monitor patients requiring advanced respiratory, cardiovascular, and renal support.
- Administer medications safely, including intravenous therapies and infusions.
- Operate and monitor complex medical equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion devices.
- Respond promptly to changes in patients' conditions, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and patient records in line with professional and legal requirements.
- Support and educate junior staff, students, and healthcare assistants within the clinical area.
- Participate in clinical audits, governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient working environment, adhering to infection prevention and control policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and attend relevant training to maintain competence in critical care nursing.

- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
