Our client, an award‑winning environmental consultancy specialising in landscape architecture, planning, ecology, and environmental assessment, is seeking a Senior BNG Advisor to join their growing team (Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, London, Manchester). This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to multidisciplinary projects across the UK while helping to shape and strengthen the company’s expanding service offering.
About the role:
- Assisting with the creation of internal and external facing BNG related resources to knowledge share and streamline BNG processes
- Quality assure a range of biodiversity assessments including BNG feasibility and Full BNG Assessments, HMMPs, Biodiversity Gain Plans and other BNG related deliverables
- Identify knowledge gaps internally and externally for development; assisting with training delivery and mentoring of peers
- Work with the Senior Leadership team and BNG lead to continue to develop the BNG service vision as BNG develops to help our client be a market leader in BNG solutions
- Assist with consultation and engagement with clients and stakeholders including planning
- Keep up to date with emerging guidance and case law
- Work with the Morph/RCA accredited surveyors to undertake surveys and streamline approaches
- Lead on QA, but able to produce BNG assessments of tricky sites, complex HMMPs
About you:
- Knowledge of how BNG fits within the planning system/process
- Have experience of botany surveys and knowledge of UKHab to support surveys and assessments of habitats
- Ideally have experience using GIS software and digital field capture tools (particularly Coreo) and AI resources to support development of digitisation methods
- Knowledge of up to date guidance and case law relating to BNG
- Knowledge and/or experience setting up habitat banks for BNG and the practical management of habitats for biodiversity would be beneficial
