They believe that great design and planning go hand in hand with ecological integrity — and are now seeking an Ecologist to help lead, grow, and evolve their ecology capability within their Environment and Sustainability Team. We expect that this role might appeal to Ecologists at either Senior, Associate or Director level. (& the role / our clients offer will reflect this)

About the role
This role will sit within the new and growing Environment and Sustainability Team, working across offices and disciplines to provide ecological advice and leadership to colleagues and clients.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape how the organisation delivers ecological excellence; from advising on strategic masterplans and policy development to leading fieldwork, mentoring others, and building strategic relationships.
The position will be shaped around the right person, offering flexibility to align with your strengths, interests, and preferred ways of working.
Responsibilities:
- Identifying and managing ecological risks and opportunities throughout project delivery, from feasibility to construction.
- Advising on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) – undertaking surveys, assessments, and providing design-stage advice to meet legal and policy requirements.
- Monitoring ecological performance – using field data and site observations to ensure commitments are met during construction.
- Delivering nature-based design solutions that integrate ecology into the built environment and leave a positive nature legacy.
- Providing strategic ecological input to masterplans, frameworks, and policy documents.
- Building trusted relationships with clients, landowners, planners, regulators, and local communities.
About You
You’re a passionate and experienced ecologist who combines technical expertise with strategic vision and strong people skills. You’re motivated by the opportunity to influence, collaborate, and make a tangible difference through your work.
You bring:
- Proven experience as a leader within ecology or environmental consultancy.
- Strong understanding of UK ecological legislation, BNG, and biodiversity policy.
- Experience providing strategic advice across complex or multidisciplinary projects.
- Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and non-specialists.
- Organised and confident project management capability across budgets, schedules, and outputs.
- A collaborative mindset and emotional intelligence when engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders
