Full Job Description
A skilled Fabrication & Welding Engineer is required to support weekend operations at a leading timber manufacturing facility. This hands-on role offers opportunities to work with advanced equipment and contribute to continual investment in people and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication, welding, and repairs to maintain and enhance production machinery
- Respond to breakdowns, providing welded or fabricated solutions to minimize downtime
- Work with MIG, MAG, and MMA welding processes across various materials
- Manufacture and modify components, machine guards, and parts to support plant reliability
- Undertake mechanical maintenance tasks, including hydraulics and pneumatics
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication and welding in industrial/manufacturing settings
- Skilled in MIG, MAG, and MMA welding, able to meet high standards of finish and strength
- Mechanical maintenance background (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, fault-finding)
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Completion of a recognized Mechanical or Fabrication/Welding Apprenticeship (or equivalent)
- Self-motivated and able to work independently on weekend shifts
- Strong safety awareness, teamwork, and communication skills
