We are now looking for a Senior Civil Engineering Technician with experience to join our growing Engineering and Construction team.
About our Senior Civil Engineering Technician role:
This role will see you working with a multidisciplinary team to determine wind, BESS and solar farm layouts based upon geotechnical, ecological, wind yield and other site constraints. You would be working with a lot of autonomy using Auto CAD and Power Civils 3D.
Some of the things you may find yourself doing:
- Manage the CAD and Power Civils 3D design process for wind farms, BESS and solar farm layouts.
- Produce detailed cut/fill analysis, cross sections and long sections of the designs.
- Undertake swept path analysis for transport studies.
- Contribute with a view of leading on traffic management plans and route access reports.
- Undertake site visits to understand the project and site needs during the design process.
- Managing the document and drawing control process.
- Assist in undertaking the technical review of contractor’s detailed design and comment on efficiencies, access road and crane pad horizontal & vertical alignments and drainage designs.
- Create reports on design reviews.
- Liaise with clients in meetings and emails.
Collaboration and coordination:
- Manage the design process with other disciplines including GIS to understand their constraints that effect the design.
- Liaise with the appointed Principal Designer and contribute to the design risk management process.
- Highlight issues and opportunities for projects.
- Mentoring junior staff in CAD and GIS services – checking and approving deliverables.
Skills and experience required:
- Tech Eng MICE or equivalent
- Minimum HNC in civil engineering or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience in a civil engineering design function ideally within the renewables industry.
- Demonstrable experience in AutoCAD, Autotrack, Power Civils etc – ideally including ARC GIS.
- Knowledge and experience of utilising the DMRB and MCHW
- Advanced knowledge of civil engineering design principles, particularly related to wind farms (turbine layout, foundations, roads, substations, etc.).
- Experience in a line management or demonstrable understanding of good management practice is highly desired as this role will have the opportunity to manage junior staff.
