As our business continues to improve the way we operate and expand, we’re looking for an organised and proactive Transport Co-ordinator to join our team based on Hedley Avenue, Grays. You’ll have the chance to work with teams across our 7 sites and will be a key contact for our team of Drivers. If you’re keen to learn, have a level of experience in a transport planning role and enjoy a fast-paced environment, our Transport Co-ordinator role could be for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Efficient vehicle planning and allocations, ensuring all systems are kept accurately updated.
- Building of groupage loads across our artic and rigid fleet, looking for ways to continuously improve our groupage operation.
- Arranging trailer movements where necessary and working with our Fleet and Compliance Manager, to keep the fleet well maintained.
- Ensure productive briefings take place with all drivers and handover teams to ensure the smooth running of all operations.
- Respond and monitor email groups, actioning when necessary.
- Assisting with the management of the driver diary, making necessary changes to allocated work.
- Monitor vehicles to ensure they are on time for delivery slots.
- Complete vehicle spot checks to ensure our cabs are kept to our high standards.
- To have flexibility within role to cover changes in priority of workload.
- Complete general office duties i.e. dealing with incoming telephone queries, filing, and dealing with any associated queries.
- To be aware of all Health and Safety issues relating to the post and to ensure compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and associated procedures and guidance.
Requirements
- Proactive mind-set with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in a transport environment, ideally a previous planning role.
- Local area knowledge is preferred, but not essential.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work closely with our Driver teams.
