Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business and currently has over 350 employees spanning 7 UK sites. The group’s activities include UK haulage and storage, frozen food production and co‑packing solutions. S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group of Companies) specialise in general haulage & distribution in and around the South East of England. New business developments on the horizon are allowing us to recruit experienced HGV drivers. We are looking for drivers to be based from S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL.
Shift Pattern: Sunday - Thursday Nights
Hours: 44 hours guaranteed pay per week, based on a full time working week. Hours may vary in accordance with business needs and reasonable additional hours may be required.
Rate: £17.00 per hour
Other bonuses: Early start bonus & night out allowance
The Role:
- General Haulage
- To maintain excellent levels of customer service
- To ensure accurate and timely communication with the Transport team
- To deliver goods in a timely and professional manner

Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, valid Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
- Reliable and punctual with a flexible approach
- Good verbal communication with excellent customer service skills and a professional approach
- Previous Class 1 experience is preferred but not essential.
