Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business with over 350 employees across 7 UK sites. The groupβs activities include UK haulage, storage, frozen food production and co-packing solutions. S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group) specialise in general haulage and distribution in and around the South East of England. New business developments on the horizon are enabling us to recruit experienced HGV drivers who will be based from S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL.
Shift pattern, hours and pay
- Shift pattern: Monday β Friday nights.
- Hours: 50 hours guaranteed per week (hours may differ depending on workload).
- Start times vary: 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00.
- Rate: Β£16.00 per hour.
- Other bonuses include an early start bonus and night out allowance.
The Role
- General haulage and related duties
- Maintain excellent levels of customer service
- Ensure accurate and timely communication with the Transport team
- Deliver goods in a timely and professional manner

Ideal candidate requirements
- Fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, valid Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules
- Reliable, punctual with a flexible approach
- Good verbal communication with excellent customer service skills and a professional approach
- Previous Class 1 experience is preferred but not essential
