As part of the Lockwood Group, William West & Sons is looking for an organised, customer-focused and proactive Dispatch Office Coordinator to join our busy Transport team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and enjoys working with drivers, customers and operational teams to keep transport running efficiently. You'll play a vital role in ensuring our daily transport operation runs smoothly, providing real-time support to drivers, maintaining operational systems and delivering excellent customer service.
No two days are the same, so we're looking for someone who enjoys problem solving, communicating with people and working as part of a supportive team.
Location: Lows Lane, Ilkeston (with flexibility to work from other depots when required)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm (40 hours per week)
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Key responsibilities as Dispatch Office Coordinator:
- Be the first point of contact for drivers, providing route information, operational updates and support throughout their shift.
- Coordinate daily dispatch activities to ensure vehicles leave on time with the correct documentation and instructions.
- Update Transport Management Systems (TMS), warehouse systems and operational platforms accurately and in real time.
- Monitor vehicle and driver activity, responding to live operational changes and escalating issues where necessary.
- Liaise closely with warehouse teams and colleagues across all Lockwood depots to coordinate collections and deliveries.
- Respond to customer enquiries, providing timely updates and resolving issues professionally.
- Process transport documentation, electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) and other operational paperwork.
- Build positive working relationships with drivers, customers and colleagues to deliver an excellent service every day.
You’ll ideally have experience in transport, logistics, administration or customer service and enjoy working in a busy operational environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing workloads.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and confidence learning new systems.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
- The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar software would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
