You’ll have a strong background in long-form storytelling and thought leadership. You’ll work closely with our subject matter experts to produce engaging thought leadership content for clients and prospective clients, across a wide range of business lines.

You’ll enjoy turning complex topics in risk and insurance into compelling stories for specialist and broader audiences, creating commercially effective content, from articles and reports to emails and social. Your work will be central to our marketing campaigns, and you’ll partner with our Account Managers and in-house marketing experts to shape the messaging behind them. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about writing, thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across a wide range of topics and formats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of long-form content, including articles, reports and newsletters.
  • Run interviews with subject matter experts to gather insights and shape editorial narratives.
  • Turn complex or technical subjects into clear, engaging, client-focused stories.
  • Work with the in-house design team to bring reports to life, shaping how content is structured and presented so it’s visually engaging and easy to navigate.
  • Partner with the Marketing Account Managers to plan and deliver content for their business areas, ensuring it’s aligned to business priorities and the annual marketing calendar.
  • Partner with the digital team to optimise content for SEO and GEO.
  • Work closely with in-house experts to support in repurposing long-form content into other formats such as email, social, video scripts.
  • Review content performance, giving senior stakeholders regular updates on KPIs and areas for improvement.
  • Support the delivery of in-person and virtual events including writing copy for pre- and post-event promotion.
  • Build close working relationships with US and international colleagues, spotting opportunities to collaborate and content that can be localised for UK and European audiences.
  • Apply Lockton’s tone of voice and brand guidelines consistently across all content, and act as a champion for great writing across the team.

Candidate Profile

You must have the following experience:

  • Proven experience writing long-form and thought leadership content, ideally in a B2B or professional services setting, with a portfolio to show it.
  • Confident interviewing subject matter experts and senior leaders, and drawing out the story.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of contributors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to turn abstract or technical information into engaging content.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, and an interest in how content shows up in AI search (GEO).
  • Able to manage several projects and deadlines at once in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and proactive, with a strong sense of what will interest and engage target audiences.

Desirable skills

  • An understanding of financial services and risk solutions, and a willingness to keep building that knowledge.
  • Previous experience in journalism or a similar field.
  • Insurance background, though by no means essential.
