Required skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Strong experience in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), including algorithm development and optimization.
  • Experience in reverse engineering RF systems and signal analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of software-defined radio (SDR) technologies and platforms.
  • Background in R&D for developing innovative solutions and cutting-edge algorithms.
  • Proficiency with Python, C/C++, and/or other programming languages used in DSP and SDR development.
  • Knowledge of signal modulation/demodulation techniques and digital communication protocols.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to join our team at our Gloucester site. This exciting role will involve working on advanced Research & Development (R&D), software-defined radio (SDR) systems, and payload development for a variety of Defence, Cyber, and Intelligence programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reverse Engineering & Analysis - Hardware, software, and signals based reverse engineering of RF systems: identify vulnerabilities or areas for improvement.
  • Software-Defined Radio (SDR) Development - Develop and optimize SDR solutions using cutting-edge DSP techniques for various applications in communications and signal processing.
  • R&D and Algorithm Development - Design and develop new DSP algorithms to enhance the performance of SDR systems, focusing on signal detection, classification, and exploitation.
  • Payload Development - Contribute to the development of payloads for advanced communications systems, ensuring compatibility with both existing and future technologies.
  • Testing and Validation - Work closely with testing teams to validate and optimize system performance through laboratory testing, real-world experimentation, and field trials.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware and software engineers, to integrate DSP solutions into larger mission systems.
